Professional development in the Swedish police organization: Police officers' learning pathways

Professional development is important for the improvement of professional work. Particularly relevant to concept an occupation's character and organizational arrangements activities endorsing employees' development. In this article, police officers' in Swedish organization explored by analyzing learning pathways their experiences crucial conditions that contribute Content analysis interviews with six female seven male officers conducted. The results show diverging responsibilities give rise either self-directed or information-oriented pathways. Three aspects (i.e., formal educational arrangement, facilitation managers, scheduled time workplace learning) are seen as endorse ways due assigned responsibilities. These findings endorsed differing strategic management patterns affect kinds support different positions.
